Day 12 - 9/11 and more

After the last 2 days which were about 17 hours each the children were under threat of death if they woke anyone up before 8am.  That was a good plan and it worked better than any of us could have imagined.  The children finally surfaced at 9.30!!!!  Joy all around except it meant a pretty compact day for us.  Breakfast done we decided to head down to the 9/11 Memorial.  By the time we got there (at midday) the line up for the museum was 2 hours and for the observation deck on the One World building (which replaced the twin towers) was longer.  Pam and Emily chose shopping, Harley and Amanda and the children went home for relaxing for the kids and laundry and housework for the oldies.  Luke, Chris and I had coffee, considered all plans then headed home with hopes for a bike ride in central Park with the kids, got back too late so I relaxed, Luke and Chris did a quick ride around the park, by the time they got back it was beer time.  I think a slow day may have been a benefit for all of us.
Then Harley, Amanda, Luke, Chris and Emily decided to check out some jazz bars, not sure when they'll be back but they are booked for an early morning One World Observation Deck tour.......
You'll be thankful there are not too many photos today,

The 9/11 Memorial fountain - there are two fountains like this - they trace the footprint of the
original Twin Towers.   We did a few artistic shots - please forgive us.

All the victims names are etched into the frame around the memorial, they put roses on the names of people who
would have had birthdays.  Sorry Darryl - no cake for you.......

The ribbed structure behind is part of a huge shopping centre - ultimately located by Pam and Emily.
