Well Chris and Emily got away on time, I'm sure we'll be seeing them soon. We just got word that they have arrived safely in Sydney, Chris had an ordinary flight with his sinuses playing up so he'll be off to the doctor fairly soon. I was much better today but due to my delicate condition we planned an easy day. It is also the kids last day of holidays - back to school for them tomorrow, Harley is back at work, Amanda behaved herself last term so she gets an extra days holiday and is back on Thursday. We asked the kids what they wanted to do on their last day of holidays and they all voted for lunch at a diner. If you have ever watched Seinfeld you will have seen Toms Diner/Restaurant where lots of discussions take place between the characters. It is at the northern end of central Park right next to Columbia University and just on the border of Harlem.
We all went in and sat in a couple of booths and had a very satisfying lunch. It's obvious the restaurant doesn't just rely on its fame from Seinfeld to get the customers through the door - top food!!
Came back closer to home and dropped in to Maison & Kayser, a French patisserie, for coffee and cake, just looking at their goodies put on the kilos. Made it home, when we left this morning it was a pleasant 14 degrees, we just about froze our extremities off on the way home. Looks like we're in for fun tomorrow with the temperatures ranging from 1 right through to 3......brrrrr

Now Xmas and New Year are over, I'm able to catch up on the blog! Pam and Vernon the trip looks amazing so far and you all seem to be having a great time. I must admit Vernon, a bit disappointed as to the fact there was no mention of the accommodation at Niagara Falls! It was either so amazing you were embarrassed to say so - or it was so bad, you were embarrassed to say so! It does look cold and I hope you're feeling much better now Vernon - you seem to have been in the wars between ice skating injuries and the man flu. xxx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you have had a bout of illness Vern. No doubt Nurse Pam has been administering suitable aid. Do you have a bell to call her ?
ReplyDeleteAlways sad when departing so no doubt tissues all round. Did you see the ball drop ?
Excitement reigned supreme at midnight at 65. The silence was broken only by the hum of the a/con.
Happy New Year.

Trish, first things first - the Niagara Falls accommodation - we were a little concerned when we were told about 10am into the trip that the hotel had not yet been confirmed??? In the end we stayed at a hotel about 5 minutes walk from the falls. We paid $80 for the trip which included the bus and hotel. They usually stay at a hotel in Buffalo but they were obviously booked out so had to put us up next to the falls!!! We checked the cost of the Hotel and it was $200/night so we had a big win!!! The hotel was very nice, beautiful big bids, very luxurious!!
ReplyDeleteSecondly - after rising from my death bed and defeating the grim reaper once again - I am back to full strength and will hit the road running.
Only a couple of days till we have that great flight home..... See you Thursday!! Love Pam and Vernon xxxx
Good to hear the accommodation was good! Mind you, doesn't enable us to make much fun of you when
Deleteyou get home! Altho…...
John, Pam has certainly looked after me, she needs me as her NYC guide!!?? There was no bell, didn't want to push her over the edge. We didn't watch the ball drop, the crowds are ridiculous, the rain was tumbling down and most of the people at the event can't even see the big drop, we stayed up till about 8pm maybe and then celebrated the new year at breakfast time.
